Frosty’s King Lena – “Stubby”
I had been looking for a horse for about six months in
the Western New York area and couldn’t find just what I wanted. I had a
young horse at the time and decided I didn’t want to “train” anymore. I
was looking for a quiet, easy going trail horse. Then I remembered a
friend had a ranch horse he bought in Kansas and he was a really nice
horse. So I started looking on the internet for a ranch horse. My
husband and I decided to take a vacation to Wyoming and look for a horse
at the same time.
I originally came to Wyoming to see some horses on another ranch. I did
not find a horse there I liked, so I got on the internet again and found
Diamond Tail Ranch. I spoke to Tim that evening and he said come right
out the next morning. I rode one horse, Stubby, and knew he was the
horse for me. So I made arrangements to bring Stubby home to Elba, New
York.
I have had Stubby for three years now. He is a beautiful sorrel with
flaxen mane and tail. He has great confirmation. He is quiet,
level-headed and willing to do anything I ask of him. He is exactly what
I was looking for. All my trail riding friends want him!
Tim and Jamie made us feel right at home. My husband especially enjoyed
talking with Stan about their beef cattle operation and our dairy farm
operation. They invited us back any time. I keep in touch with Tim and
Jamie, Stan and Mary by email and give them updates on Stubby!
I’m so glad we made the trip to Wyoming to buy this horse, best horse
I’ve ever owned! Finding the Flitners was meant to be!

"Cody"
- Whiskey Hard Twist
I had been looking for a horse for several
months and tried quite a few, I knew I wanted a good minded, ranch
raised quarter horse but was finding it difficult to find the "right"
one. While
browsing the web, again, I found Diamond Tail Ranch. I read all over the
website and was very impressed with what I read and the feeling I had
about the people writing it. The whole set up for breeding and the way
the horses are raised was just what I was looking for, I
eventually flew, on my own, to see the Flitners and the horse, of
course. It was snowing and bitterly cold but they could not have taken
better care of me or given more time with the horse. I rode him indoors
and across the ranch in the snow. He was everything I wanted, wonderful
temperament, good mind and solid and sound with a wonderful
conformation. I have now owned "Cody" for three and a half months and he
has settled so well to his new life and bonded with our other horse so
well. He just continues to amaze me as he accepts everything I ask of
him and does it willingly.
We have just returned from our first
competitive trail trial and he was just awesome.
I get compliments about him, how good looking he is how gentle he is and
what a good mind he has, the way he approaches
strange things, this happened again today numerous times, people say
"how did you find such a good horse" I then of course tell them where he
came from and how long it took me to find him but how, once I knew you
guys how I knew he was for me.
I adore this horse and have become good friends with Tim and Jamie,
I shall be forever thankful to them for breeding him for me and the fate
that took me to Diamond Tail. Cody and I are partners for life.

“Big
Oak” – Leos Okie Moon This Spring I
realized that I was afoot. My good ranch gelding was lame and not
getting any better. I needed an honest, reliable,
aged gelding who could go right to work. I’ve been blessed to have
ridden some wonderful horses in my lifetime so I had some very definite
ideas of what I was looking for. I needed a horse that I could step on
and ride away from the corral with no fuss or rodeo. I needed a horse
who knew what a cow was and knew what to do when he got to that cow. I
needed a horse I could rope off of, cross water with and who would stand
next to a cut bank so I could climb on him. The horse I was looking for
had spent lots of miles behind a cow, had lots of wet saddle blankets
pulled off his back and knew how to find his meal between the rocks and
sagebrush in a Wyoming pasture. I knew I needed to find a “cowboy
outfit” that raised and rode the horses they had bred and were proud to
put their brand on those same horses.
Jamie Moore Flitner and I have been friends all of our
lives, she comes from one of the finest ranching families in the state
of Wyoming. I knew Jamie was married to Tim, a long legged cowboy from
over the mountain who raised good horses and cows. I looked at their
website and loved what the Diamond Tail Ranch had to offer and what they
had to say about their operation. I called and visited with Tim and he
told me he had two horses that he thought might work for me. My husband
Doug and I loaded up and headed to Greybull. We saddled up both horses
and Tim took us for a ride out through the heifers. Within the first
five minutes I knew I had found the horse I was looking for – “Big Oak”.
He has all those attributes I mentioned above and much more. I have
ridden him through branding, summer sorting and now shipping. He is the
same ride every time and I know I am no longer afoot. Thanks Tim and
Jamie for raising exceptional horses at the Diamond Tail Ranch and for
letting “Big Oak” become a part of my life!
